YEAR ONE

THREE DIMENSIONAL

This is our very first project of our year one. we were required to observe and explore two and three dimensional designs. For this group project, we chose deconstructivism as our theme, which is a very dynamic style, hence the colour of red,black,white and silver to bring out the dynamic in our design. At the end of this project, we can relate concepts to principles and vocabulary of designs as well as working effectively as a team.

FORM AND LIGHT

In this project of form and light in architectural design, we are required to observe and explore on form and light, the two most fundamental aspects of spaces. whereas form actually shapes space, we need light in order to perceive them. our project criteria is two design two completely different space in one building for two individuals who stays in the same building. The first client is highly sensitive to light due to health issues while the other client needs sufficient lights due to his job. The final outcome of this design is a living space for both clients needs, part exposed and part enclosed.

This project is designed to stimulate investigations into the pragmatic aspects of designs, including structure and construction and their integrated application in creating architectural spaces . This is a project of learning by doing aiming to give us hands-on understanding of basic structures and materials. we were given an ecological location. Here, environment and a sense of identity is explored.

PUBLIC ART

In the middle of our year one, we are required to produce something slightly different from before. We need to take into the consideration of the given location and come out with a public art which can either blend in or create a contrast with the space. This project need us to co-operate in groups. for my group, we decide to design something in contrast with our chosen space/location which is the spiral staircase in the lobby of KBU international college. Aiming at solving the negative space within, hence our theme is called breakthrough. Red and black hues are applied to create contrast.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION

For this group project we are required to construct a living space based on a real-life neighbouhood living space but with a different approach /style. For our group we chose tropical as our theme. At the end of this project we should have develop a critical profesional and socially aware approach towards designing a living space. Begin to identify design problems and respond effectively to these through development of appropriate design concepts. working effectively with teams/peers is also critical in developing our design and constructions.

GALLERY

This project is the last of our first year degree programme. we ware required to produce a gallery of our own choices. i chose to do a book gallery inspired by the book "shopaholic". my gallery aims at every shopaholic in all shopping malls. my message for this gallery is to reflect the happiness all shopaholics search and found by shopping crazily. shopaholics find pleasure by shopping, which they cant have in their daily basis life. This gallery is a mixture of feminine and luxurious hence the bold gold hue for luxurious and pinkish pink for feminine. The exterior and interior is obviously the shape of a book opening up which was inspired by the book itself.
